A Toast to Friendship

It is such a nice feeling to be surrounded by family and friends, especially if these are friends you have kept in contact with in whatever way. Of all the birthdays I have celebrated I could say that this is the most significant. Very good friends in highschool came, Cindy, Ish, Marlette, and Arlene; followed by my college buddies, Seth and husband Bobby, Shin, Aileen, Tony and wife Tina, and Gina. Sadly other close friends - Jesusa, Iza, Joids, Kuya Rico, and Therese were not able to make it due to unforeseen events. I would also like to acknowledge another good friend of mine, Weng (currently in Korea) who called to wish me well on this special occasion. Of course the same goes to my blogger friends, Ria, Rex, Gem and Drey not to forget my well wishers at facebook there are just so many.... :) I know I sound like someone who won at the Oscar's but the feeling is akin to one.

To all of you let's toast once more and celebrate life in the company of our family and friends... I hope you like this poem as much as I do....
Your friend is your needs answered.
He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving.
And he is your board and your fireside.
For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace.

When your friend speaks his mind you fear not the "nay" in your own mind, nor do you withhold the "ay."
And when he is silent your heart ceases not to listen to his heart;
For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires, all expectations are born and shared, with joy that is unacclaimed.
When you part from your friend, you grieve not;
For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.
And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit.
For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth: and only the unprofitable is caught.

And let your best be for your friend.
If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.
For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?
Seek him always with hours to live.
For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness.
And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.
For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.

Saturday night Fever

My apologies dear readers if I have failed to do some blogging work for the past week...my children and I have been sick on and off since Saturday. A couple days back (before I got sick myself) while I was hugging my youngest who was feverish and unable to breathe well due to clogged nose I said to him "Son pass that on to mommy" and he did so there I got sick myself hahaha not that I am complaining. It's just that I got to spread the virus around and passed it on to my other son Alloy and to my daughter Ally. We have just arrived from their Pedia and thank God my son is totally cleared of his primary complex. He got infected a year ago from a previous nanny who, without my knowledge, would bring him to unimaginable places to visit her boyfriend when I was at work. I also found out that the nanny got herself pregnant and that we could no longer rely on her as she would leave in the evening while my husband was asleep, leave my baby alone (being employed in a call center I was not with them every night) and go to the Village Plaza and get drunk along with the other irresponsible maids and tricycle drivers. One day I got so fed up with her as it would take her 2 to 3 hours to come back after I send her on a very simple errand (ex. buy a bottle of vinegar in the nearby store). So I told her to pack her things and leave us, that was the only time I learnt about the things she did behind our backs. Our neighbors could not tell us because they were afraid of our maid. Imagine that?! Anyway, sorry I get very emotional when I remember this particular episode in our life. As my husband keeps reminding me "erase erase...forget the past...let bygones be bygones...case closed"

Well, what's important now is my son Alloy is healthy he just needs new vitamins and a different milk to fatten him up. My daughter, who is spending her semestral break at her Lola's house (due to insistent public demand), is no longer coughing. While my youngest seems to be better....well on the road to recovery... Praise the Lord! Thank you, thank you for the blessings and even the trials, for the miracles that happen in our lives every single day. Thank You!

On Family Days and Octoberfests

We have just gotten feelers that Manila 2's (Commonwealth site) Family Day will be held on October 13 and that they have invited Parokya ni Edgar to highlight the event (Woohoo!) sad part is our second site is too far from where I live so I would have to be contented with the updates that will be included in our news magazine. On the other hand, Manila 1 (Alabang site) will be celebrating Octoberfest on the 25th of the following month, presumably. Should there be any changes I would be posting it here. I haven't got a clue who this year's invited band will be though -- so keep posted!

Family Day is a day in our call center agent lives where we can bring our families to our place of work and enjoy a whole day affair of games, shows, free food, and a tour of the office. While we also celebrate Kidz@work, Family day has always been a big event in the company ( Kidz@work is a separate occasion which also includes a tour of the office, children's games and a short lecture on the jobs of their parents or relatives.) One of the best events that everyone looks forward to though is Octoberfest ... Why? --- stay tuned!
